About Me.
Hi, I'm Lindsey Shaw, a therapist with twenty years of experience in multiple disciplines. Whilst I specialise in Emotional Freedom Technique, I'm also a Hypnotherapist and Neuro Linguistic Programming practitioner. I utilise my expertise with Transactional Analysis, Trauma, Mental Health and substance misuse Recovery to offer a uniquely rich approach to my one to one sessions and group workshops.

I trained in the above therapies as a direct result of my childhood, having grown up in an environment of neglect and emotional abuse, as the only child of an alcoholic mother and absent, often violent father. This resulted in profoundly low self esteem, and next to no confidence. Having spent most of my life searching for healing modalities, I discovered Emotional Freedom & was able to turn it all around.

Prior to this, I was beset by constant anxiety, depression, and all of the negative thinking that holds those states firmly in place. With very low emotional intelligence I continually made choices which were not good for me on many levels. Eventually, this resulted in me having a bout of depression which took me further down than I thought it was possible to go. When I was in the darkest place of this time, I embarked on a journey with a Hypnotherapist whose first two hour session with me helped me more than the 18 months of counselling I'd received prior.
This was the beginning of my Recovery Journey, and I haven’t looked back.
This adventure has led me to many and varied places, working extensively in mental health services, drug and alcohol services, with young offenders, survivors of domestic abuse. I have also worked with women involved in sex work, women at risk of re-offending, and mothers with profound support needs at risk of having their children removed.
I have had the joy of integrating my musical skills into my work providing therapeutic West African drumming sessions to many organisations and projects, I have worked with organisations ranging from the NHS, the Oxford Children's University, Action Deafness, and The Oxford Environmental Centre, to private organisations such as Weleda and Orange.I have designed and facilitated workshops, educational courses, and support groups.
I collaborated in creating materials such as the SISO (Safe Inside Safe Outside) Toolkit for Wellbeing, and The Yellow Book, both of which were endorsed and utilised by the NHS, and other organisations such as large Housing Associations and Mental Health support organisations. I worked as a Wellbeing consultant for SISO for ten years, and eventually became the CEO when it became a Community Interest Company (CIC).
The change in my life over the past 20 years has been exponential and my story isn’t even as dramatic as some of the people I’ve had the privilege of being able to work with as clients. Over the past 20 years I have had the pleasure of sharing the skills that have transformed my life, helping people on their journey to Recovery and Wellbeing.
This is a holistic approach where my years of experience are synthesised into bespoke sessions suitable for, and adaptable to a wide range of clients, and problems. I work in a trauma informed way, and help people to navigate the storms of life in order to feel better, and hence move effectively towards enlightenment and new awareness, self esteem, confidence and personal empowerment, joy and passion.
My focus is on the Wellness of the individual, from a place of compassionate non judgement, and lead them to the same for themselves, a place where they can understand that they’re not broken in need of being fixed, but wounded, in need of healing.
